Glenforsa Now Open
Glenforsa is open and operational following its closure since September 2012. The council closed the strip in September following an incident involving a Cessna 172.

The Council has agreed to re-open the airfield with a few provisos in place. All calls for PPR will be checked by Oban and the a/g radio on 120.800 is no longer operational (except for emergencies).

David Howitt, who operates the airfield on behalf of Argyll and Bute Council, explained, “The airfield was examined about three weeks ago by the Council and I'm pleased to say that Glenforsa was given a clean bill of health.
Since our opening a couple of weeks ago, we've been very busy with plenty of aircraft flying in, as we've been very luck with some great weather conditions recently.”

The airfield's annual fly-in will go ahead as planned on 24-26 May, the 47th consecutive fly-in at Glenforsa. For more details, visit

If anyone would like to fly to Glenforsa for their annual fly-in and enjoy an afternoon or evening amongst lots of aircraft and fellow flyers then;

Hire an aircraft for one of the days of the fly-in
Organise a crew to accompany you -
or if you prefer, you can advertise on this forum to seek willing flyers to share the flights / cost.

It would be a great idea if aircraft from Fife and Tayside could make a joint effort to attend this fly-in !

sounds good ? Then feel free to get the ball rolling !
